Black and white staircase
I recently spotted this black and white staircase over at the Land of Nod catalogue. I love the aesthetic...neither too modern or too traditional. But replacing my current builder's-grade colonial-style staircase would be too expensive. Maybe just sand it down and paint it black and white?

This look may work better with darker colored floors. If you have white textiles or furniture in your home, and your handrail matches the color of your light colored floors, consider painting the spindles and base white, and keep the existing color of the handrail to match your floors.
ReplyDeleteConan O'Brien's house has the white spindles with black handrail. It looks pretty nice.
