A vignette

It's 10:30pm on New Year's Day. The babes are both soundly asleep (finally!). I steal a moment of quiet and relaxation, sitting at my desk and sipping on my favorite wine. As I'm reflecting on the events of this past year, I spotted this little scene here by the corner of my elbow, and I think...this picture says it all.  An overflowing inbox with forgotten to-do's, a chew toy, and a glass of wine.  I want to stick it in a time capsule and revisit it one day when I've forgotten about my chaotic, joyful, tiring and precious life was as a new mother.

My life, circa 2011.

  1. Hi Mily,

HNY! I wish your family and happy, healthy and successful 2011.

I'm wondering if you are happy with the bookcase you put in for Sophie. You got the material from Ikea? Is there anything you would like to change about it? I'm think doing something like that for Caden and I'm not sure if the rails are sturdy.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi Tiffanie!

Happy New Year to you and your family! We absolutely love the bookcase we put in for Sophie. She's a reader, so it gets a lot of use. And it's very easy for her to put her books back after she's done. I wouldn't change a thing.

The material used is the IKEA Ribba picture ledge. I think it's the 4-ft length (the longest one available). It's very sturdy--we used wall anchors for the holes and didn't worry about trying to find studs. Make sure to get wall anchors that can hold a lot of weight, just in case. Good luck!
